The rest of the time they spoke or touched or ate in the darkness

what would that be catorgized as like is it a metaphor, simile or just a simple narritive descirption..need answers fast thank you

It is definately not a similie. It sounds somewhat like common narrative, but the whole part about doing everything "in the darkness" makes me suspect it is a metaphor. If it was simple narrative, I think it would focus more on specific actions instead of naming that many off in a row. I think the line is saying they do everything in darkness. In other words, they live in darkness; the darkness could be ignorance or moral depravity.

simple narrative. a simile has like or as in it. a metaphor give human characteristic to an object.

sounds like description....there is no 'as' and there is no 'like' in the sentence which would be dead give aways for similes and metaphores...

I guess that would depend on the context of what you are reading.
it may be taken literally, or inferentially. so this also depends on the level of reading you are in.
