Think about an aphasic child who looks like, but does not articulate like all the other children and is easily frustrated, yet has been tested as having an IQ well over 140.

The Bell Curve proves (or fails to prove) that "x" race produces better students.

As a student I'd heard mension of the bell curve in a generic sence but I was not aware that it was a controversial subject. Only recently, I heard this was a highly debated topic when it was written and what if anything it means. Supposedly, the data proves that one race (on average) scored better than another on the same test. On the other hand, some people assert the authors were biased or racist. Regardless of what you believe, there probably are teachers who stereotype their students based on race. Can you even find average CAT scores or SAT scores broken down by race or does no one want to publish this information because of social ramifications?

This may not be a thesis statement per se, but it may point you in the right direction:

My 6th grade teacher predicted to my parents that I would never graduate high school.

I did make it through high school, didn't make it all the way through college, have a 154 IQ and make a LOT of money per year.

Teachers think they have a special clarvoyance to detect the maxium potential of the kids they are charged with educating. They are WRONG. The reality is these teachers have no clue what that maxium potential of a child is unless that child severely brain damaged. But once they pigeon hole a kid as less than whatever their ideal is, many teachers just abandon those kids. Shame on them.
