Have any of you tried and succeeded to get pregnant while in your mid to late thirties and if so could you tell me what things you did to ensure a healthy pregnancy both for you and your child? My husband & I have tried for years (4-6) with no luck, tried infertility treatments which weren't for us, ruled out any problems with either of us & recently decided to adopt but are now feeling the desire to get pregnant, whichever comes first. We really want a family. I'd love to hear your thoughts & best answer will go to the one that touches my heart. I don't mean to sound corny but if you are female & in my situation you'll understand what I mean. Thanks :o)

Some of you are posting insensitive responses and this is a serious question. If you don't know please don't submit an answer just to get points. Find someone else to do that with please. Thanks!

Emily Dew - Thanks for your sensitive response. I appreciate it. :o)

At 37, it's tougher to get pregnant and stay pregnant, but by no means impossible. I got pregnant with my first child at 35. Your age alone will make you a high-risk pregnancy, even if everything goes smoothly. My ob once told me that half of her practice comprised women over 40. After the birth of my daughter, I suffered four miscarriages. No one could ever tell me why, even though I saw a world renowned fertility specialist and had test after test. My SIL, on the other hand, was in almost the exact same situation as you are. She and my brother had been doing fertility treatments off and on for 9 years with no luck. Finally, they decided God must have intended for them to become parents in a different way so they decided to become foster parents. They adopted two of their foster children and then WHAM, she got pregnant! They weren't even trying and both are around 40! Her pregnancy was a little dicey, but in the end, she delivered a beautiful baby girl!

Have you tried in vitro fertilization? If that doesn't work then one of you is completely infertile in which case the infertile spouse will need to be willing to allow a 3rd party donor (egg or sperm depending on which partner) you could even have to go as far having someone else carry the child for you. I forget what this is called. Like a donor womb. A nice thing about in vitro is you can do pre implantation genetic screening. This can help reduce the risk of you child having a genetic disease and can even allow you to pick the sex. Hope this helps. I'm not a doctor, but I did stay at a holiday inn last night.

I am totally with you girl! I am 37 weeks also and never EVER remember my pregnancy with my daughter 5 years ago being this difficult. The only think that has helped me is a body pillow and my hubby rubbing on my hips and back to fall asleep. My legs and hands also go numb, and I have yet to figure it out... I was told that the baby is just laying on a nerve and to try to get him to move around. Also, I was told by my doctor that I could take tylenol pm to help me sleep, because it got to the point that I could not even stay asleep an hour. Do not know if that would be an option for you. Good Luck, and hopefully we will have these babies soon :-) Congrats

When you can't get pregnant, and things look good from the outside, it can be extremely frustrating.
The first thing to consider is how long have you been trying. About 80% of couples will get pregnant after six months of trying, and about 90% will be pregnant after 12 months of trying to get pregnant. Anyway this is a great methid to get pregnant fast https://tr.im/51901

HI. My best friend just had her first child at age 39:) I myself would love to have another child and I am 40. The risks are greater, but many women have healthy pregnancies and healthy babies at 35 years +. Don't give up hope. although you aren't 40 yet, here is a link that I have found inspirational:

This is a trick question fo r me.

My wife got pregnant with out second child when she was 35.

She got pregnant like that, but ignore the warning signs that things were going wrong with the pregnancy to the point where she was two hours away from being dead.

(I don;t mean to scare you, but you have to hear this)

It is true that at 35, it does get harder to conceive, but I would initially recommend being intimate when you feel hte honest need, rather than being clockwise.

And communication is the key as well, before, during and after

IVF (in vitro fertilization) treatment; IUI, ICSI and Laparoscopic surgery is very cheap in India. The cost is very low and the medical services are very good in India.

My cousin and her husband got their IVF treatment in India through the Forerunners Healthcare in India and is all praise for this company. She is a known case of PCOS.She is a very happy mother of a baby boy now. She just paid 2500 pounds for the full IVF treatment in India for which she was quoted 8000 pounds in private setup in UK.

Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. I read a lot about them in the newspapers. I have also read about a Chinese couple who planned surrogacy through the Forerunners Healthcare. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery and infertility treatment like IVF, IUI, and ICSI abroad for low price. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery and treatment can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps.
