If the holocaust was defined as the high volume genocide of the Jews, then it ended in November 1944, coinciding with the order by Himmler to destroy the crematoria at Auswitz as the Red Army approached from the East.

Most people will say it ended in May 1945 coinciding with the defeat of Germany. While there were many deaths from forced marches of death camp prisoners to avoid liberation by the Russians, the 'high volume' infrastructure that was a characteristic of the holocaust was not in place toward the end of the war. This answer is getting a little to technical, splitting hairs as it were, but you asked.

The Holocaust ended in 1945 when the Allied Forces occupied Germany. Adolph Hitler committed suicide shortly after that.

The holocaust ended when allied troops discovered concentration camps, often most of the inmates were killed in the last hours of german control before they were liberated.
