They are never happy and find fault with eveything around them.

i disassociate myself from that type of person..it's too draining and life is too short

Yes...its very annoying. Either they are not that good of a friend and you should disassociate yourself from them, or if they are a good friend you should just be honest. Tell them its really annoying when they complain and that they need to do something about it, not just complain! I've been friends with someone like this for over 12 years and sometimes I have to ask myself if its worth it!

No, I never let myself to linger around with people who spreads the negative energy to others. This is not a healthy & mature behaviour. I prefer to stay with those people who are grateful and fully responsible in their life.

Yes...this is my bf mother. I have really cut down on the visits I make to her...I cant stand to be around such negativity.

I make fun of them to their face. For some reason it makes them stop whining, at least around me!

yes and it drives me crazy! nothing good EVER seems to happen to this person...im sure even if they won the lottery they would still find something negative to say about it!

you can't beat them, join them.
you are not the issue, that someone is.
if that person doesn't realise it, you can help to knock some sense into it.
