In 12yr time, her mum's age will be 3times of hers
=> her mum's age is 3units
=> Vic's age is 1units
=> difference of their ages is 2units
Thus,
2units ---- 30yrs
1unit ---- 15yrs
i.e. Vic is 15yrs old in 12yrs time
=> Vic is 15-12=3yrs old now.
Thus in 5yr time, Vic is 8yrs old.

my ans :
Let Vic age to be x so vic mom will be 30+ x now.
In 12 years time, vic mom will be 30+x +12
therefore 30+x+12=3x
42=3x-x
21=x
so vic age now is 21, in 5 years time she will be 26
