If your friend is an astrologer she is in no way any kind of scientist - she is a fraud even if she doesn't realize it yet. Astrology is FAKE and has been tested hundreds of times to see if its predictions come true, and they DON'T.

If your friend is convinced that astrology is true, she could win one million dollars from the James Randi Educational Foundation. All she has to do is demonstrate any kind of paranormal power under controlled conditions that stump the observers and she would be the first person ever to win the prize: EVERYONE who has tried so far has been exposed as a fraud, because Randi and his people know how all the tricks are done (unlike a lot of scientists, who can be and are fooled by sleight of hand).

But go ahead, I would love to see someone win that prize and make the universe suddenly more interesting than it already is!

By the way, Saturn never gets between the sun and the Earth. If your friend told you this she knows even less about astronomy than she does about astrology.

Saturn is farther than us from the sun. It is impossible for Saturn to be between us and the sun.

Venus has transitted the sun before. The last time this happened was June 8, 2004 and it will happen again on June 6, 2012. This has no effect on weather and will not cause any floods that wouldn't have happened anyway.

Astrology is NOT a science, it is like numerology, superstition and religion, utter bunkum, largely a matter of opinion and interpretation. This site Astronomy, IS a science, operating on disproving various hypotheses, and can give very accurate predictions of the positions of stars, planets, moons and comets, etc., as well as foretelling eclipses, tides, and so on. The position of Saturn has no bearing on floods, which are likely to increase in number and severity due to global warming, so that once in a century floods will soon be once in a decade. Your friend is deluding herself and you with psuedoscientific garbage. Study science and psychology and it will help you be less nervous, as you acquire a rational basis for understanding the world and the universe.

Your friend obviously forgot to study some actual science while she was 'studying' all that bullshit. Saturn cannot move between the Earth and the Sun. It's an exterior planet - only Mercury and Venus come between the Earth and the Sun, and they do not cause any effects you'd notice. There is no reason for them to cause floods, and certainly no reason for Saturn, which is much further away, to effect us either.

Please learn this distinction:

Astrology is a pseudo-science based on myths and folklore, and thoroughly discredited among knowledgeable people for at least the last 300 years.

Astronomy is the science of the nature and movements of celestial objects.

Knowing the "lore" of astrology does not give a person any knowledge of actual facts, and you should not pay any attention to anything your friend says about it.

And no, it is not possible for Saturn to move between the Earth and the Sun.

The closest to the Earth that Saturn will come is approximately 9 Astronomical units, which is 9 times as far as from the Earth to the Sun.

Newton's law of gravitation states:

F = G * (m1 * m2)/d^2

F = Force
G = gravitational constant
m1 = mass of Saturn
M2 = mass of Earth
d = distance from Earth to Saturn.

This results in a force which would exert an accelaration on the earth of 0.00000002 metres per second per second

The moon by contrast exerts an accelaration on the earth of 0.00003 metres per second per second

Since the moon is responsible for ocean tides, it is impossible for the significantly smaller acceleration caused by saturn to cause floods.

I hope that this calms your nerves. Science is good for providing comfort in knowledge, Astrology only provides fear through ignorance

Spencer ... No, that's total baloney. Saturn can NEVER get between the Earth and our Sun. Saturn's orbit and distance from the Sun are greater than Earth's. Sorry, but your friend is pulling your leg, it seems.

Check out my link below to see the order/orbit of the planets in our solar system.

Saturn can't block us. We are closer to the sun than Saturn is. Tell your friend to rethink what she says. It is 1.4 billion km from the sun, we are 150,000,000 km from, the sun. We could block Saturn a little from the sun but not the other way around.

Saturn's orbit is way, way, beyond our own. It cannot move in front of the sun and block the earth. This is complete BS.

saturn is two planets behind the earth and so how would it be possible that it will block the sunrays in reaching us, and even if happens then there is nothing to worry about since it will be the end of everything that time
