i need ideas for essay to compare/contrast the theme from Hawthorne's story with the issue of human cloning or stem cell research

If you'd read the story, this should be a ridiculously easy topic for you. The most obvious choice would be to discuss the unforeseen dangers of drastic experiements because the focus is on a certain goal--a type of tunnel vision. The girl dies in the story, but he isn't even concerned because all he could focus on was the experiment itself. He's not evil because of it necessarily, but just one minded which caused so much damage. In the same way, with cloning and stem cell research, if the focus isn't on the big picture, the research can do much harm too.
