For the past two days now, every time I go to start my car it wont fire up the first time. The engine is turning over and it isn't the battery or starter because it isn't turning slow. It sounds normal but wont "fire" up. And, it always starts up the second try. It is a 2005 Nissan Altima and it has 35,000 miles on it. My warrenty is good for another 1000 miles. Is this something that would be covered?

It isn't doing this due to cold. I live in California and our agerage temp has been 65 degrees F.

Please help!!!

Yes, that is definately covered in your powertrain warrenty. The problem it probably you fuel pump. When you turn your key it should automatically prime the injectors with fuel. Next time you go to start your car turn the key on for about a minute then try and start it. But yea bring it in they gotta fix it.

Don't press the gas pedal it will make it hard to start. Second it could be a cold start valve or an air fuel mix concern. I recommend you get the book "Lemon Protection Identifying a Lemon" at lemonprotection.com its worth having just in case you may have gotten a lemon.

Clogged injectors would also exhibit this. Any loss of power/stuttering when you step on the gas - especially at the top of 2nd just as it's about to shift into third (assuming automatic transmission), or on the 4/3 downshift?

check your battery cable and buy some goo for the connections on your battery. it sounds like you need a new battery cable. that's a cheap fix. check it and if that's the problem or looks like it; tell the shop to replace the cable. otherwise they may do a whole diagnostic and other stuff you dont want to pay for or do it yourself.

I had this problem and that is the 1st thing you should check. trust me.

1) Try changing the fuel filter and check the fuel pump pressure and regulator.

2) If that don't remedy you troubles have the crank and or cam shaft sensors checked.

should be covered under warranty. sounds like either you need to change your fuel filter ( if its serviceable) or the fuel pressure regulator is going bad, or the fuel pump is on its way out.

good luck.
