The answer is closest to D, although Ptolemy beleived the sun and stars as well as the planets orbited the earth, once a day. That was the common belief at the time, because you could see it with your own eyes, and nothing else.

thejuice1 is thinking of Copernicus, not Ptolemy. Ptolemy believed that the planets orbit in cirular paths around the earth so the answer is D.

Ptolemy was 'correct' in a sense. He got nearly correct answers. It's just that his equations and geometry were very complicated.
