Does anyone have a home recipe for carpet cleaning. I spilt red wine on my new carpet and my home remedy of baking soda and warm water did work to a degree but now there is a dark patch on the carpet. Any useful home made enviromentally friendly cleanning recipes would be great. Thanks.

Vinegar is a form of wine, so it will break the bonds of the red wine stain to the carpet fibers. Saturate the stain with white wine vine and dab it with a clean white cloth.

Club soda works well as a cleanser. The part of wine that stains is called tannin, your best bet is to purchase some tannin stain remover to have on hand, it works well on other stains such as coffee, tea and colas. You can purchase it at your local janitorial supply store

Try using baby wipes. They clean just about any type of stain.
