is it just hinge pins or the whole hinge?

It's probably just hinge pins and bushings that are wore out. It's about a 15 minute job per door if... you have the right tools and know what you are doing.

It can be done by the average weekend mechanic and a helper. You will need a spring compressor tool, (about $15.00) something like a floor jack to support the door, and a helper to balance it on the jack.

with the door supported & spring removed, you drive out the pins, roll the door away from the truck a few inches for room to work & drive out the bushings.
Install new bushings, pins, and reinstall the spring.

If the hinge area is cracked or the pin hole in the hinge is wore, you should take it to a body shop to be welded.

It is usually just the hinge pins and bushings that need replacement. This is a big and ugly job however, so I would get someone who is either a body guy or take it to a body shop. If your hinges are bolt on to both the door and the pillar you might consider replacing the complete hinge as this can be done by yourself without too much trouble. Good luck.

it's a hinge problem. I had a 92 S10 that did the same thing. I tried the pin and sticking washers in it. but it only did more damage. I replaced the hindges on the door and frame and it was like brand new. I didn't even have to slam it like I use to. It worked great. You can order out of the dealership or like i did Autozone. and it's easy to install. if you have the right help. the door is pretty heavy but once it's on, It's on. Good luck.

You can buy the hinge pin and bushing kit at most parts stores and you can replace the pins and bushings yourself, but( and this is a big but), you CANNOT replace the spring on the top hinge without a special tool. It really is worth it to take it to a body shop or dealer.
No kidding.

you need to have the door pin bushings and pins replaced in it,this is a real bad job to do if you don't have a door remover and installer, and the tools to get to and knock the old pins out with,,you,ll be better off paying to have this one done ,i do this all the time, and without have the spring tool for this, your going to spend a lot of time chasing this spring down trying to get it back in,its a real pain,a body shop will have the needed tools for this,it probably will cost you around a 100 bucks for everything, but its worth it,believe me,its no fun, good luck with it,i hope this help,s.

verify the two the door and the physique with a wood worker's sq. to be certain which isn't sq. anymore. i might suspect it is the door framing that has drifted out of plumb. Fiberglass doors tend to be good, and in the event that they get off lots, you will possibly have the potential to locate a crack interior the door. in the journey that your physique hasn't shifted too lots, you're in a position to shim decrease than the hinge plate and positioned across the door decrease back into the physique.
