Before I answer your homework questions, let me tell you one.

CCC - Civilian Construction Corps.

My grandfather worked on this. It was what we would call today "workfare". The CCC did various projects, such as build roads, clear/plant forests, etc. that the government deemed necessary. In return, they would get wages and also an opportunity to learn some sort of trade. While in the CCC, my grandfather learned how to become a mechanic, and eventually wound up in the private sector.

I am not sure why a program like that was discontinued. Today, it's more of a "something for nothing" mentality. People just want to be taken care of. That is not the way of things. So keep reading your history textbook for yourself and find other examples.

ah, this sounds like your Home Work...all u need is this.
THE FIRST NEW DEAL.
&
THE SECOND NEW DEAL.
research on that and u will find exactly what u want

p.s. FDR's new deals didn't solve anything...it was WWII that got us out of the problem....hence the speculation that FDR knew that japan was attacking but he did nothing and let japan attach us at pearl harbour

Besides WPA and CCC, the first welfare programs, doesn't Federal Income Tax fit in there somewhere? Then schools could apply for federal money too ...
