I use a cabel modem & all of a sudden a second connection icon keeps showing up at the bottom of my screen. It wont let access it no matter what I do and I can't delete it. No details show up on that connection.
What are some possible reasons and what should I do?
I heard on the news that hackers can use your computer from their homes to access illegal sites without it being traced back to them.

They can. They can turn your machine into a "zombie" or a machine that acts silently to crack government computers, etc. Download SpyBot Search & Destroy and Ad-Aware. Scan it with both of them. Make sure that your virus scanner is uptodate and scan it with that too. Finally, you could have a trojan or a root kit. If you do, there is nothing, short of formatting your hard drive and re-installing Windows that will help. You could probably take it to Best Buy or one of the other technology stores and pay them to clean it, but they could just as easily miss the problem as not. Good luck.

That is possible, but it wouldn't show up your computer. Chances are there is an internet connection such as Wireless that you aren't using. If you go to Start>>Connect To>>Show All Connections, you can choose which ones you use.
