so i heard from my sister today that they passed a law (certain states) saying that you are not allowed to spank your child if they are under the age of 4....what are your thoughts on this?

I never spanked my children, but I got their attention with angry words.. Now, I did not care for this, but when my kids were little, you NEVER spanked or else you would be turned in to DHS. The kids had the reigns, instead of the parents...It was maddening!!! And hard on us! Well they grew up and now have little children I think they get spanked here and there for bad things and I find it amusing that we can spank!! I got spanked and I grew up pretty well ~~~ Under four there is other means but I slapped the little hands when they were where they shouldn't be and that's all.

What you heard is currently in California legislation. If this law is passed, it will be a misdemeanor to spank a child under the age of 4. They want to make the punishment $1000 fine. But attorneys are advising the legislature to instead mandate a year of parenting classes for a 1st offense.

I emphatically agree! They are way too small! And they are very easy to restrain and maintain, without violence. And especially I don't care what age you never hit the child in the head or anywhere if you can help it. Most people that abuse their children have been a victim of child abuse themselves. Therefore to stop the continuation of brutality a law had to be enforced! What message are you sending to a baby with physical brutality? That it is right? No way! We need to stop that hideous behavior by the no brainer parents! You get more flies with honey than with vinegar? eh? Good Luck

the federal government (senate+house of reps) has passed no such law. unless for whatever reason your state or local government passed it, which is unlikely, your sister either lied or was misinformed
