See if your area has used clothing stores and/or consignment shops. Consignment shops are where people turn in their old clothes (usually in really good shape or the shop won't take it--the idea is to sell the clothing fast and for more than chump change) to be sold and then given a percentage (the shop keeps the rest). When I have clothes I don't wear, have never worn (some still in the packaging, some with the tags still attached--one of those "you'll lose enough weight to wear them" but never do, or gifts folks give me that I am never gonna wear, or things that seemed like a good idea at the time but when I got them home decided no way) I give to a used clothing store. If you're careful, look inside, along all the seams, check to make sure all buttons, snaps, zippers work and are there, make sure edges are frayed, you can often get some really good deals for a dollar or so. Some of the best clothes I've ever gotten have been at used clothing stores. You might not be able to find everything you want all at the same time at the same store, but if you go back over a period of time, you can find some really good deals.

The stores:

Wal-Mart
Salvation Army
Value City
Target
Khols
Charlotte Russe (the most expensive on the list)

Shop 'til you drop. Dig through the racks, ask at the counter, think before you buy. Try it on, and be creative. Sometimes the shirt that doesn't seem to work is suddenly fine with some little accessory.

That's a good start; Goodwill and the Salvation Army have thrift stores. More and more people with decent incomes are shopping in these places (not just the poor). You can also try outlet malls flea markets and swap meets in your area. It is just as important to also have clean and pressed clothes at work.

It's good to hear from someone who cares about their appearance at the workplace. I think you'll go far.

good luck!

You'd be suprised how many nice clothes (donated by the wealthy) show up at thrift stores. Try some of them out and you'll see you may have saved enough on clothes to get brand name perfume and/or shoes even.

Go to the Goodwill stores in wealthy areas, you will be shocked at how many name brand clothes are there. Some will still have the tags on.

****, I dunno.

I would go to an Alco if you have one close by. They have cheap clothes and shoes.. but yet they are still fashionable!

OR.. go to Payless, Goodys, or a Walmart.
