To be in a specialized learning center or academy in my county's high schools, the students must apply. It is told to the applicants whether they were accepted, rejected, or put on the school's waiting list. Well, wait 'til you hear about THIS:

A girl (caucasian) in my forensic science class applied to the district's science and engineering academy. She was put on the waiting list. Sounds normal, right? Well, listen to this: They told her that she doesn't have a good chance of getting in because of her RACE and GENDER. Apparently, she "would be the minority" since it is mostly the male gender and the Asian/Indian ethnicities. Is it just me, or is that discrimination? What do you think about that? That's just wrong, in my opinion.

that is discrimination and it is wrong for a school to reject someone because of their race.

hell no, of course i thought it was still common, anyone who thinks otherwise is living under a rock. it's human nature to discriminate...we just can't help it. it should be helped though in cases such as these. i mean good lord we don't need anymore reason to make the steryotype that asians are ALL frickin' genuises.

I'm not that shocked. I think it has more to do with gender than her race. Most top paying jobs are given to males.
