I am only a high school graduate.The company I worked 20 years for only pays me 8k (net) a month for retirement. When I die my wife will only get half should I find another job now that I'm only 40 years old. Oh yes we also get free medical for life.

No John, financially it doesn't sound like you will have to work again. It does depend on your lifestyle choices, current debt and expenses. That is a very nice position to be in. You must be a great contributor to get that kind of a retirement package. You can choose your own working conditions. If decide you'd like to work again. If I where in your positon at 40, when taking retirement I would kick back and relax for a while to congratulate myself. Travel. Then get back to work for the love of it or you'll get soft and mushy. Please may I have your job when your done with it?

If you don't have a hobby then you may want to work, by the way congratulations you are in the top 2% of the American work force that is able to actually retire with enough to actually live on.
