I made a website on NVU, and I was wondering if I could somehow put it on the internet for free. Does anyone know of any kind of service that allows you to do this for free? Thanks.

Mishra Your Answer: First thing you must note down that if you want your website to be free of cost for you cant have your own domain name i.e. it cant be
www.yourname.com etc for free.

However , it can be free if you compramise with subdomain like

yourname.serviceprovider.com or www.serviceprovider.com/yourna... etc

but you can have free webspace.

then follow these steps

1. Go to one of the free web hosting website(listed below)
go and search the best web web hosting on
http://www.freewebspace.net
or go directly to the one selected by me
http://www.awardspace.com

2. Register for free and remember your password.

3. Create your home page on your PC using html(if you dont know html you can create it using FRONTPAGE which is provided by Microsoft in windows 2000 or you can download a html editor from net also).

4. Save this page as index.htm

5. Now login in your free webhosting account and go to file manager(most of the webhosting websites have file manager)

6. Upload your "index.htm" page at top level without renaming

7. if you want more than one pages in your website then create those pages with your html editor(FrontPage)with their different names and provide links in your homepage(index.htm) targetting each of those page. (in target dont type the web address , just type the name of the target with extension like help.htm)

8. Upload those other pages also at same level.

9. Pictures can also be provided by same method(hyperlink the picture in page and upload it in file manager at same level)

10. Need your website to be more graphical ? try hese sites
http://www.xara.com/downloads
http://www.coffeecup.com

11. Need any more assistance? i am always there for you.
arsars111@yahoo.co.in

12. Require an example?

You can use Yahoo's Geocities - the free version has very annoying ads on it, but they disappear with a click. For about $5/month you can make the ads go away.

As I say, the ads are annoying, but you can test out your site and show it to other people and when you're ready, you can pay the $5.

Well, that's just horrible! But,don't take this personally, it's your fault. But I think it's rude to to let users delete their content. Next time here are some rules you want to follow: 1. Don't ever use your real name (except for facebook and stuff, duh.) 2. Don't use other people's real names when you are telling stories that have them in it. You're supposed to say something like my friend, let's call her "susie." :) 3. READ the terms of service for sites that you DO use personal information on. (I know it's stupid to actually look at them... I never do, but I think from now on, if I'm giving away any personal information, I will think to look at it.) as for the people saying these things about you, just apologize then let it go. if someone says "I can't believe you actually said that." say "I'm sorry. I didn't mean for you to get offended. I've tried to get it all of, but the website won't let me." "You are such a b*tch!" you say "I'm sorry that you're offended. I didn't mean for it to happen." then let it go. Personally, I think google is really helpful. BUT, it gets TOO much information. My friend and I were messing around and we searched our friends on google... you get pictures of them and articles (mostly from sports.) but the google maps (and street views, oh my.) you can see EVERYTHING.

Geocities does but you're not gonna get much out of any free web host. You might as well spend $1.99 for a domain name (like a whatever.com/.org/.net/etc) and pay like $3 a month for hosting.

yahoo offers web pages for free, so does geocities. as for web servers, there are some out there, but you'll have to look for them

I believe, if you have a cable modem service (i.e. roadrunner), they give you space for your site. You'd need to go to your provide 'cable' site and get the instructions.
