Deceleration is the opposite of acceleration. When you accelerate, your velocity increases over time. When you decelerate, your velocity decreases over time.

A and B are both forms of acceleration.

Deceleration is still acceleration. It would be a negative value though. Looking at your term for accelerating down a hill, the eqn. is +g sin(theta). The opposite, decelerating, or going up the hill would be a = -g sin (theta).

Hope it helps.

Hi
Accelleration is an increase in velocity. Picture your car going 35 mph - you hit the "accellerator" the engine speeds up and your car accellerates to - say 60 mph.

Decelleration is a decrease in velocity. Picture same car going 60 mph. You hit the brakes and the car "decellerates" - that is slows down.

Any help?

acceleration means literally to change in speed or velocity. acceleration can either be speeding up, slowing down, or turning in another direction

however, deceleration strictly means to slow down.

the prefix "de-" means the reverse of, so it's the reverse of acceleration (the reverse of speeding up). Deceleration is slowing down.
