go to the control panel and click 'help and support' on the left
in the new window click on 'fixing a problem' in the 'pick a help topic' area
then click on 'games sound and video' on the left
then click on 'sound troubleshooter'
then just fill out the troubleshooter and you should be good to go
if this doesn't work get back to me and ill find a new way

Go to the Start button at the bottom.
Go to Control Panel on the right side.
Click on Sound, Speech, and Audio Devices.
Then pick a task.

you should have got a disc called drivers and utilities or similar, load this and install the sound drivers, that should fix itor go to this page and fill out your location and product line for the bios and drivers section and keep looking for sound drivers http://global.acer.com/support/download.htm
