They say 80% of body heat excapes from the head..well I go out without a hat on often, bundled up of course....So..

If I just put a hat on and then go out butt-as* naked...according to this, I should be warmer, because I'm not conserving more of my body heat..

What do you think..?

Try it and find out for yourself. Experiment is the proof of science.

First, I believe it is that 80% of heat loss occurs through the head.
Anyway, the reasons for the heat loss through the head are:

1) The proximity and number of the blood vessels near the surface of the scalp.

2) The bulk of the torso is typically covered in inclement weather.

But, hey feel free to experiment.

Your body produces too much heat to remain in the body. So you have to lose heat right! The head is the most convenient place because heat rises, blood vessels and all that.

Or you'll fry.

If you totally clothe yourself except for your butt guess where the heat will escape from. Or you will die from hypothermia.

You'll still be as cold according to them:

They said 80% not 100%; the rest of your body needs protection too!

That's because breathing goes through the head, and the lung surface is times larger than the skin surface.
