Tampons hurt on occasion (if it's incorrectly applied, if your period is extremely light, etc.), but usually it doesn't hurt at all. And I agree, it's not exactly pain, it's just sort of uncomfortable. The best way to do it is get into a squat type position (like over the toilet) and insert it at an angle, as if it's aiming towards your face with the bottom end pointing at your toes. Take as much practice as you need, and you'll get it down. :)

If putting in a tampon hurts, then you are not doing it correctly.

If it's your first time, buy the slender or junior size and get the plastic applicator. They go in more smoothly.

Once you have it in, if you can feel it, it's not in all the way. The only thing you should feel is maybe the string.

When you go to take it out, pull gently and slowly.

Remember, don't leave them in for more than 4 hours at a time.

No. They don't hurt at all. Even if you don't put them in correctly, they don't HURT. They would just be uncomfortable. If you put it in right, you won't even feel it. Just make sure to get it as far up as possible. If you can feel the tampon once it's in, then it's not far up enough.

It does not hurt!!

The key thing is to relax. You might feel it or may even be uncomfortable the first few times. Its something that you'll have to get used to, but I promise you its so much better then pads!!

how old r u? cuz i take it that u r a virgin so it might hurt just a little but cuz ur still tight there. so just get the smallest size that you can find and it comes with a thing that shows you how to put it in so dont worry and dont be stressed, if you dont relax you wont get it in....GOOD LUCK♥♥

If you're scared, it will hurt. That's because if you're scared, your body is not relaxed at all, and everything hurts. If you're scared, don't use them.
