This isn't chemistry, its triangle congruence (geometry.)

The ASA postulate states that if the side between the given angles of two triangles is the same, the triangles are congruent.

AAS is two angles and a side of one triangle = two angles and side of another, the triangles are congruent.

It proves the equivalency of triangles. It has to do with the fact that the total of the interior angles are always equal to 180, so if you know two angles, you know the third. So if two triangels both have a 30 and a 60 degree angel, the third has to be 90 degrees. The triangles are either similar or mirrors.

If you throw in a side and the two sides are equal, it means the triangles are not just similar but equivalent, exactly the same shape and size (or mirrored).
