how do you know if your ball python shed its eye caps?

my ball python has just shed and i was wondering if his eye caps shed off or not how does one figure this out??

They dont shed their eye caps if you see the skin enough times you know. They have some kind of skin that covers their eyes like an eyelid but not pronounced

Hi there! If you look at the head piece of shed skin, you will see the eye caps. If they are not there, most likely they are still on your snake. The eye will usually stay greyish blue or, it will get a wrinkle in the eye cap. The best way to make sure you get a clean shed is the humidity of the tank. 50% is good and when in shed, bump it up to 60% or so. Also soaking the snake in lukewarm water for 20 minutes or so everyday (when in shed) will also help! Good luck.

Sure -- look at the shed skin. It should have the eye caps on it -- that is, if it comes off in one piece (as our snakes' skins sometimes do), the only holes are the mouth, nostrils and cloaca.

It's interesting to look at the eye caps on the shed; I'd always read, even before we kept snakes, that snakes' vision became poor as they were nearing the time they shed their skin. After looking through the eye caps on the shed, I could see why -- those things were halfway opaque.

When a ball python sheds its skin the eyes will get a blue gray color to them that means it is shedding ,When the eyes look normal without the blue-gray that means he is all done.

Look at the dead skin carefully for the eye shaped skin, if you don't see it, rinse your snake's head thoroughly and it should be fine within 24 hours.
