I have a 1999 chevy silverado thats runs terrible. There are days that it takes forever to get it to start and has back fired a few times and when going about 55MPH starts stalling. I have no idea where to start. Please help me out

Start with a mechanic.

You are facing several possibilities here.
Fuel supply (filter or fuel pump)
Tune up (?)
Possible ignition timing sync lost.
(NOTE----> this engine isn't timed with a timing light, and if there has been a change due to unskilled technical adjustments, or due to mechanical wear such as the distributor gear, the symptoms and signs you describe will result).

Happy Motoring

It sounds like the timing is off.Depending on the miles the timing chain could have jumped a few links.
