The harder len is called gas permeable. They are better for your eyes in that they allow more oxygen to them. But the soft len come in disposable ones which some doctors say are better. Depending on what your vision issues are, you may not have a choice anyway.
How you take them on and off largely depends on you. Some people do the "pick" thing. Some people hold the lower part of the eyelid and roll their eyes and use one finger to slide it off. When you are fitted for your lens, they will show you how to take them on and off. Then it's up to you .

Soft, Acuvue is the best to me..Been wearing them for about 6 yrs. They last about 1.5 month a pair and can be worn for 5 days at a time. They also have UV protection. And yes you need to pluck them off your eye with 2 fingers...

Soft are more comfortable. You carefully take two fingers and touch on each side of the contact, squeeze your fingers toward the middle and pull out to take them out. Not very much finger to eye contact. Mostly fingers on contacts.

You didn't say if you need them as in prescription, or to wear them as cosmetic only. I wear them just for looks(cosmetic) so I'd recommend wearing the soft ones if it's for cosmetic. To take them out, all you do is gently touch the lens as you sweep it to the outer side of your eye, it's easy but may take a little practice at first.

You should talk to your optician. It's not your choice to choose the lenses. It's the optomeristst after examing your eyes that advise you on the type of lense.

soft is my preferance.
you probably know to wash your hands before putting them and and taking them out.
the eye doctor will tell you what to do.
i see where it is and go to edges of the contact and pull up.
you'll get used to it after a week.
trust me.

soft are waay much more comfortable, and they 'breathe' and move...i dunno its sorta hard to explain, but def. go for soft.
and i take my lenses off by taking one finger and pushing the lense softly to the side, that moves it so itll become more reachable, and it creates a crease, from the crease i take 2 fingers and take them off from that crease...
