Why do dogs roll around in dead animals and poo?

they have a natural instinct to cover their own scent. in the wild dogs are hunters and if their prey can smell them coming they can run away. but if a dog smells like something dead the prey they are stalking will think what they smell is not a threat. good question!

Its a hunting thing. They disquize their scent. Instincts you know.
