The St. Louis Cardinals. I was a fan of the Cards early in the 70's watching Lou Brock run wild, and caught the end of Bob Gibson's career. They have a deep tradition of success, starting with the Gashouse gang (Dizzy Dean, Joe Medwick, Enos Slaughter). The Cards of the 60's were competitors, especially when Gibson pitched. The teams of the 80's played "smallball" but still won with hard work, timely hitting, and good pitching.
And, what can I say about the team this year? For a team that has less than half the payroll of the Yankees, these men sucked it up, and pulled off one of the greatest comebacks in history.
It's great to go to St. Louis for a game, and it was especially fun when the brewery owned the team. The Clydesdales would pull the beer wagon, and it was a great time. Cardinals fans tend to be loyal and knowledgeable. They don't expect a world championship every year, but they want to see hard nosed competitive baseball.
The best thing about being a Cards fan is it seems they have a chance to win it all every year, especially in the last ten years. The 70's were bad, and the stretch from 1987 to 1996 wasn't too good, but they have a good chance every year. And, of course, it is fun to constantly torment silly Cub fans.

The Cincinnati Reds is my favorite baseball team. They are the closest team to me geographically so that's the team that I grew up watching on television. Not that girls watch television by choice, but my father played, coached, etc...so I was always around baseball. He started taking me to Reds games when I was really young. My loyalty runs deep and true. I'm a Reds fan forever!!

The Cubs. My dad is a cub fan and my grandpa is a Cubs fan. I know it's been 100 million years since they won it all, but that's why not anyone can be a Cub fan. you know how excited i am for this year to start...just as excited as i was last season and the year before that and so on. obviously i don't need a hundred trophies to enjoy my team.
My first memory as a Cub fan was listening to Harry Carey on TV. Something about him made it great to be a Cub fan. I'm only 18 but I know all bout former Cubs. Mr. Cub Ernie Banks and Sweet Swinging Billy Williams were genuine hall-of-famers who respected the game and helped make the Cubs what they are. (Should be) Hall of famer Ron Santo was a fiery 3B who put together an amazing career dispite complications from Juvenile Diabetes. Now he broadcasts games for the Cubs & is one of the most passionate enthusiastic Cub fans you will ever meet.
I Love THE CUBS!!! and This is the Year!!!

I love the NY Yankees. Not because I'm a bandwagon fan, not because of the 26 championships, and it isn't out of hatred toward Boston; Boston is actually a pretty cool city. The Yankees were my favorite team at first because I was born into a Bronx family of die-hard fans. This is perhaps the same reason most people in the Northeast have a favorite sports team...it is just part of your geographic pedigree. Later In life I'd say because I love baseball and without the Yankees the sport would just not be the same..they are the team that you either truely love or truely love to hate. Now I'd say they are my favorite team because their rich history is what binds me to my family, my many happy memories with my grandfather, and endless childhood summers.

The Dodgers, I absolutely love them. I've been a fan since I was 8. I can't really explain why they're my favorite though. They're my hometown team and most of my family are Dodger fans which means I grew up watching them, so I guess that's part of the reason why I love them so much. I love watching them out on the field, the games are always so exciting.

Oakland. I grew up about 2 hours north of the Bay Area. Where as all my friends were Giants fan, I choose the guys on the other side of the Bay. This was in the McGwire, Canseco, Rickey Henderson, Dennis Eckersly era.

MINNESOTA TWINS!!!!! they are what baseball is about. They don't have a huge contract team and learn the basics and fundamental better then any team in the majors. They also have three of the most upcoming stars in the game in Mauer, Morneau and Santana. When they get there new stadium it will be heaven in minnesota

The Cubs. I have been watching them since 1975 when I would sit on my Step-dad's lap and watch the games. The stadium is so incredible. Everytime I go there I get goosebumps. I really think the Cubs look really good this year. GO CUBBIES!!
