I can't open it. I bought it in may 2006

click control panel then system and it will tell you what model of processor your computer has, eg pentium 4 or pentium d etc. post back what it says and we will tell you if its dual core

there will be a sticker on the box that tells you chances are if its older its one core if it is new then it is most likely dual core

crack it open. lol. oh wait, you can't do that. well, you can go to a local computer shop and they will check out your computer for free.
