Do you always believe what you read in the papers or Internet?
IF SAF has the money available, he would bought the best players in the world. And he spent all his transfer kitty with the two over-valued English players that you named.
The bosses will say there's money for transfer. But realistically, it's not a bottomless pit. And there's a lot cap to it.
Glazer is not in Roman's league sadly. You can't compete with the KGB mafia unless you are Bill Gates.
But to be fair, Fergie is doing a hell of a great job in balancing the books.

Have you ever watched football related television? Pundits love United. It's not really any surprise, they do great things after all. My angle on United has always been that it's ridiculous to call yourself a fan of a club if you aren't from or living in the city they're from. We all know a United fan who has never been to Old Trafford or even Manchester for that matter. Despite playing great football so much of what it is that makes them a club seems false and corporate, not least the droves of tourists who flock to see them. Bear in mind also, people get sick of periods of dominance in sport. Truth is when I see teams like Manchester United and Barcelona I'll always enjoy the show and be impressed by their quality. As for the person below who talked about City and Chelsea buying success, I read a brilliant article about this and United spend comparable amounts of money across the board. If anything having more competitive teams is a good thing. At the end of the day what I'm saying though is that neutrals praise United constantly, but any team who is at the top for a long time will be the subject of criticism from fans of opposing teams.

haha, I see it, this isn't really a question but more a dig at Chelsea for buying players of the calibre of Shev and Ballack, both who have had rather poor seasons so far.
Buying superstars doesn't buy success, have a look at Real Madrid
Someone like Henry wasn't bought as a superstar, but was made into one. Same with many players that have gone through the man utd ranks.

I cant remember the last major established "older" star that SAF bought....his preference is to buy talented younger players who might actually stay at the club for a few years, plus he also goes after players that fit into where they are needed, not just buying players for the sake of having stars.....example: Ballack - has to be the active linchpin of the midfield, not the stepsister to Lampard (who might be scoring a bit but is still having a somewhat subpar year) these two struggling between themselves as to who is going to be the star is causing Chelski some problems just as it does for England with Lamps and Stevie G....both great midfielders but cant work together as they both play the same role

Fergie doesn't buy superstars, he makes them. Look at Beckham, he was almost nothing before he came to Man U and Fergie took over. C Ronaldo and W Rooney are the same way.

he doesnt need to buy superstars coz manu have already got one of the best players in the world. moreover, the also have one of the world's best youth system. so why waste money and buy superstars when manutd can make them? just look at ballack and sheva in chelsea, they r very very expensive but yet, look at their performance this season, it's not even satisfactiory for a player of their calibre. instead of buying an expensiv player, manutd can use the money to do other things, lyk buying 10 young players and developing them to become world class players. so let's just leave this transfer business to the boss. only he knows wat to buy...

well fregi is a men who like to build small players and trun them into men. look at Rooney he saw something in him quickly and took him in, the same can be said about Ronni, from sporting Lisbon look whats happening every clubs is blobbing about him,and i haven't even talk about gigs and Paul scholes and the older oldies at united, that is what the epl has been about until moeyski came and Ride it with buying big names.
