No one has answered you correctly yet. Your temp rises AFTER you have ovulated that is why you track and chart your temp for a few cycles so that you know the day in your cycle that you ovulate and you can have intercourse then.

There's a whole book on the subject called Taking Charge of Your Fertility. It has a TON of information, and is very useful if you're trying to conceive.
Basically what you do is chart your average temperature upon waking over time. You have to get up at the same time every day, and you take your temperature immediately before you do anything else. When you chart it over time, you can see that when your temperature goes up by a degree or so at the right time of the month, you've probably ovulated.
There's a lot more to it, though, so get the book.

you need to take your basal temp. (it required a special themometer with 2 decemal places) You take it first thing every morning before you get out of bed or move as it can affect your temp. You need to either make a chart or log it in a notebook. Once you've established what your normal temp is, when you ovulate you temp will spike until your period comes. the spike will generally only be a .30 rise which is why you need the special thermometer.

Ive purely began charting my temp as i had no indications of ovulation like maximum others. I do it before i'm getting out mattress contained in the morning and mark it in my diary both on the part of my mattress so i dont overlook! I have began doing it on day a million of my cycle and its exceptionally consistent daily thus far, so with slightly of success, i will word a huge difference after ovulation. I have even were given the Ovulation attempt equipment this month too, so I have a better effective idea. i'm purely utilising a universal digital one from Boots, it value me £9.00, so it grow to be exceptionally low priced. solid success! x

You will need to take your temp every morning before you get out of bed and track the temps, when it raises you are ovulating. You will need to go and get a basel thermometer. I am pretty sure you can get them at a pharmacy. Good luck.

They way you normally check a temp. Watch for a raising temp for a span of a week before you ovulate or before you get your period. Good luck!
