This is my opinion, see if you agree with me.....
Strikers:
I got no problem with Rooney, he is a world class player. But he seems to be the only world class striker for England. Crouch is good, but more of a super sub then starter. The best i seen England perform was when Rooney partnerd Owen. But i dont think Owen will ever come back. England needs someone who can compliment Rooney.
Midfield:
England got loads of talent in midfield. Gerrard, Lampard,Lennon, Cole,Jenas, Carrick etc..... They should conquer the midfied but somehow they seem to lose the plot each time. Why dont people realize that Gerrard n Lampard can play together.
Defence:
To date, i think this is where England exel. Rio n Terry excellent. A.Cole n Neville excellent. They also got Richards who can take over from Neville one day. They did only concede 2 goals in the World Cup.
Keepers:
Robinson is good but he aint world class. i cant remember the last time spurs got a cleen sheet. He cant save penalties either

McClaren is not a good manager. Inherited a bunch of prima donnas, who probably dictate who they want in the team rather than McClaren. Look at the 1st team squad and you can tell it is basically almost the same team, except for Beckham. Gerrard and Lampard playing in the same team, is the same during Sven's era, so did McClaren agree with Sven on this? Or both Gerrad and Lampard have more say in the team that both managers have no choice but play them? McClaren give excuses that his team lost because his main players are injured, but yet, he has so many talented players who can fill in the voids. And does that mean playing Crouch as lone striker will fill the void? McClaren is showing his weakness tactically and poor in management, and that is why the players are not performing. Furthermore, the players are complacent and are more concern with their bank accounts than playing their heart out for the national team. The hunger for success are lost now as they are already earning millions every year and not like those days when players are paid peanuts and want to play well for their countries with pride and hunger.

Since when did Rooney become world class? I must have missed that. In his career, he's averaged 1 goal in every 3+ games. Have you forgotten about the best forward England has? I'm talking about Darren Bent. No, I'm not a Charlton supporter, incase you're wondering. Bent, in 209 games has 88 goals for a 0.421 goals per game average. Not world class, but better than Rooney's 0.328 goals per game. 65 goals in 198 games. Rio Ferdinand isn't what he used to be. He's lost quite a bit the last couple years. I think part of England's problem is Steve McLaren. I would have rather seen Sam Allardyce get the job. I think he's a superior manager.

well i like what u put there for the most part, just you forgot about david beckham,. they dont suck... there past games were:
eng. 4-0 greece
eng. 5-0 andora
eng. 1-0 macedonia
eng. 0-0 macedonia
eng. 0-2 croatia
eng. 0-1 spain

so as u can c, theyve done pretty well only lost 2 games and i know that when they went up against spain rooney (among other key players) were missing (rooney had injured himself during a game with ManU), so im sure if wayne was playing they would have won, and as for croatia i dont know about that game ...but englands still good

I think Johnson & Walcott should be first choice strikers. Gerrard with G Barry in midfield rather Lampard. R Ferdinand paired with Woodgates in central defence & James as first choice keeper.

They have alot of talent but a big reason why they perform poorly in tournaments can be attributed toa fear of failure. The english press and media are ruthless when a player makes a crucial error. Therefore, english players play scared and are often afraid to take the risks necessary to win.

Look at their record in penalties. dreadful. the reason, they are shotting not to miss...when they should be trying to score. but it's the fear of failure that causes that.

England doesnt suck. it seems to me though like if they dont care much about playing for thier nation. its like ronaldinho he plays decent for barca but completely sucks for brazil. if i had the chance to play for the USA i would play my heart out!!
