I have a ton of DVDs that I love, and I really don't want to have to buy them all over again just to get them on my ipod... shouldn't it work the same as CDs?

If you're on a Mac, simply use handbrake to rip the movies off the DVD and then use iSquint to convert them to the mp4 format for the ipod video players. That will also preserve the video quality well. Both those applications are easily found and free.

If you're on Windows... well good luck to you. =P

You can try just shoving them in any available orifice. See if that works.
