This situation almost sounds like neither sides want to speak first. But in order to get back to a great friendship or one closest to the one that you and your friend had, someone has to speak up. Nothing will get solved if you and your friend don't say anything.
Leave a message on his/her answering machine or email him/her and ask how things are doing. Let your friend know that you hope he/she is doing well and suggest a get-together for lunch or something to catch up on times. If there were frustrations that disrupted your friendship, you don't have to mention it unless the conversation ends up in that direction. If it does, just tell your side of the story and let your friend do the same. If he/she is really your friend, you two can both come to some sort of agreement or compromise and go towards the future.
Like I said, if the frustrations are all in the past and are based on small little things, just put it behind you. I'm sure your friend will do the same. Good luck. :)

Well, you both miss each other, but no one wants to be the first to say something. If you truly want her back as a friend you can't just wait for her, you have to do something about it. Be the stronger person. If she misses you, and you miss her, then when you work things out, you probably will be best buds again. IF not, just give it some more time. Or after that is you no things will probably never go back, just be acquaintances. Just go up and talk to her. Have a talk about how you want to be friends again! Good luck! :)

Well, I definatly can relate! I think that you should ask your friend if you will be friends again..... And if she says yes thats good., but after that, if she gets frustrated again and starts getting mad at you, just back away for a while... you don't want to get her even more mad than she already is.. Believe me! I have been through this hundreds of times!
