Why do UK people call Americans our cousins?

Because after all the millitary stationed in the UK during World War II when all the British men were fighting in Europe - most Americans nowadays probably are our cousins.

It's very obvious, if you think about it. Colonists from Great Britain settled in America; some for religous freedom, some for a prospect of a wealthy future, etc.
Colonists then rebelled against Britain when they believed that they were being mistreated, and subsequently declared independence, forming the United States of America.
Most of the colonists, like George Washington, for example, were originally British. Washington even fought for the British Army in the French-Indian War.
Therefore, it can be said that the Caucasian (what you would call "white") original Americans who formed this country were descendents of British citizens, hence the name given to us by British of "our cousins."

Aneuryn Bevan MP for Tredegar and health minister in Attlee's government was a genius.The national health service that he established was the envy of the world and we had the best doctors at that time.What ruined things was inadequate governments that came later.Big is not beautiful when it comes to the NHS.Many towns like Merthyr Tydfil had 4 or more hospitals when the NHS was introduced later to be demolished and one concrete monstrosity erected instead.These places are a danger to health as people suffering from every conceivable ailment attend there instead of at specialist hospitals like before.All the best doctors left Britain for America when the income tax rate was raised in the 60's and 70's and were replaced by doctors from abroad who couldn't even speak the language properly.The system is still one of the best but the management of it isn't.The govt should have let the banks fail and ploughed the money spent rescuing them into new and better hospitals.General practitioners should have more sophisticated scanning machines in their surgeries to take the pressure off the hospitals and be trained to use them.Germany has that system whereby you make your appointment with the specialist relevant to your complaint not with a GP and that specialist has that necessary Equipment in his surgery to diagnose you without going to hospital

Because many of the original (white) folks that colonised (what is now) the United States were from the UK.

They were largely religious nutters who felt their ways weren't so welcome back home so they upped and left. Might explain why so many americans are ok about shooting people, but freak out when janet pops a boobie on natational TV. Go figure.

Personally i favour sex and nudity over guns and violence anyday, but what would i know. I live in Australia (originally a convict colony) so my great great grandfather was probably a sheep thief and my great great grandma a hooker! hehehe.
