I have two black mollies and one white/silver one. I want to breed them but I don't know what they are. Is there any visible way i can tell?

Sure you can, it's easy on Mollies. Just look at the fin under the belly of the fish near the tail. In a male it's a pointed tube and on the female it looks like a regular fin. It works the same on guppies swordtails and platys too.

yes, look at the anal fin (belly fin) if it is fanned out and round it is female, if it is scrunched up, thin and pointed back towards the tail, then it is male. Male mollies also have a much bigger dorsal (top) fin.
also, if you have a male and a female, they are already breeding. Provide a balanced diet and live plants and they should start breeding succesfully soon.

I have to say-----i do know a lot about fish-----but have been reading the comments of the gentleman above------magicman----he knows even more that i do-----and he also has a good command of the English language-----whatever he sees fit to write i will sit up and take notice because all of his advice on fish has been excellent----and I'm learning things i never knew before-his description of the differences of the anal fin between sex's should clarify this important point in the live bearing species.......all females? don't worry------if that happens----one or more WILL change their sex!

mollies are easy to sex the female has a rounded stomach the male more straight and the male if you look close it looks like a fin under their belly but its more of a tube thats his wee willy

YES. Males have external sex organs. They have a long tube-like anal fin that lays against the belly. Females have a normal round anal fin.

The female will have a huge belly, while the male will have a leaner look.

It's usually almost impossible to tell the sex of a fish so I wouldn't spend much time trying to. The only way to tell is if you end up with some hatchlings. :)
