It is a fictional adaptation inspired by his life. Some details (i.e. living in a trailer park in Detroit, competing in rap battles) are true the rest was created by the screenwriter.

No it wasn't it had similarities that's why the director cast him but it's no his life when have you ever heard him talk about his little sister and in the movie he and his mother had a pretty decent relationship not so in real life and where was Kim if it was about his life no Kim no Hailey it's fictional.

He said it was loosely based on his life with some people changed and things. (like he had a brother not a sister) So yes it is basically based on his life.

The movie was not created and then they casted him for the role. He helped write and direct the movie and he had full control over every aspect of the movie like he does in all his videos.
