unless there are other Blasters ( or old Honda foursrokes) in the class/race you are going to be severely disappointed by the lack of performance. Sorry to inform you it probably isn't worth putting much cash into something that old (I know from experience)
Just go to races and see whats there first then try enduro or hare and hounds type events as you get to race without being totally left out.
(and you get to ride all day instead of just a practice and 15min race) If you like what your doing then look for newer faster quad
