I am a high school student looking to find a college that I can major in history. I live in the USA but I am preferably looking to find something possibly in a different country (european)

I am looking to become a historian, anthropologist, or an archaeologist.

I am currently averaging about a 3.8 gpa, I have not yet taking any acts or sats.

I would appreciate any websites or colleges I could look up to find info!

Thanks

Well I'm not sure this will help you find schools in other countries (it might!) but definitely start with this website:

http://www.petersons.com (great, in depth website)

Try http://www.collegeboard.com

Also, http://www.usnews.com/usnews/edu/college/tools/search.php

Or, http://cnsearch.collegenet.com/cgi-bin/CN/ZDispatch?pageName=.cnsearch.custom.index_html

You are lucky, history is one of the most common majors at universities. Be sure to check out something like anthropology or museum studies as a minor!

First, the practical: The majors you are interested in are great, but in general not a lot of high-paying jobs come from those fields. Not that money is your top priority, but you must consider how much your education is going to cost vs. your earning potential once you have your degree. Studying in Europe for your entire degree is likely to be very costly and you need to keep that in mind when you are making your decisions.

You should talk to your school's guidance councilor as soon as you can (if your school has one). Lots of people make the excuse that the councilors have no interest in them and so they don't even try that resource. If the councilors don't make time for you, keep bugging them until they do. Tell them what you want to do and ask them to get you information on colleges and universities that have programs in what you want to study.

Many factors will influence where you want to study and you should consider them carefully.

Tuition cost: Public or private school, in-state of out-of-sate, cost of living in the university area.
Quality and Reputation: Large school with lots of resources or small school with inclusive environment? A school may have a great reputation, but how big are the classes? Are the classes taught by the famous professor or by her grad students while she is off in the field? Are the professors innovating in their area or are they teaching the same lesson plans they came up with 20 years ago? Try to talk to current students to get a feel for the places you consider applying to.
Location: You may be so ready to get out of your house, but it's nice to come home and do laundry once in a while, hard to do if you are several states or an ocean away.

There are more factors that you will encounter and need to calculate into the mix as you make your choice.

Having no idea what area of the US you are in I will include only one link, but please use it to see where the faculty studied and investigate the programs those schools have too.

Good luck!
