I took my car to a local garage because there was a noise comming from the front end. It sounded like the exhaust but it was still there after the exhaust was replaced. The garage said it was the strut mounts, both front ones, so I got them replaced. The noise got quieter when the wheel is straight but Ican still hear it when I turn the wheel to the left. It sounds like somthing is rubbing but i looked and there is nothing for the tire to rub on. any ideas

Snakeing is usually on hard take-off's. I have never seen it before on JUST left turning.

cv joints click. they don't rub.

If its the wheelbearing it will almost sound like a growl. Also the brake backing plates cause this problem alot. Take your front wheels off and check to see if their rubbing on the rotors.

Have your CV joints checked, if its front wheel drive. a good front end shop (one that does allignments) should be able to spot the problem.

Put the car up in the air, then turn the wheels all the way to both sides, should see something.

Check the tire clearence specially if you have custom rims and tires. Some times people install custom wheels and tires with out taking consideration if the tire clearence. If that is not the problem you may have a malfunctioning steering pump, or it may just need steering fluid.

Maybe it is a bad wheel barring, especially if you replaced the struts.

cv axles can rub, its called snakeing and yes they usually do click when they are bad but the boot would have to be broken. i would check the cv axle. then i would also check all of the bushings on that side, like the control arm bushings.

check to see if it might be your cvc joints. The garage that replaced your struts should have found that and let you know there was a problem.try taking it to them and mention this and watch their reacttion.don't let them rip you off.If you area woman they sure will .try.
