This is a really good song :
Where is the love - by the Black eyed peas
It's lyrics deal with racial issues and the beat is very very good.

Rage Against the Machine and System of a Down both sing about a lot of social issues, Look up some of their lyrics first and then download the ones you think will work best.
Films that deal with social issues? surely there are a whole lot but I can't think of any off the top of my head i'm sorry

Look for songs by Rage Against the Machine, System of a Down and U2. All three of these bands are very politically motivated. Older bands such as the Dead Kennedys might be worth looking into as well, for songs like Holiday in Cambodia, California Uber Alles and Kill the Poor.

Old school - Stevie Wonder "Livin for the City"....
there are a lot of songs from the 60's and 70's that were about "issues" of the times......it's sad to say some of those issues are still around.
Good luck on writing your paper.

Watch "The Lord of Wars" (movie). The whole movie has music that has a meaning. A lot are from the late 60's.
You could also use the movie. It is about gun running and is a dark comedy plus a drama.
