I think it could be detrimental in just stating what you asked.

A person can feel so much rejection that any sort of acceptance becomes needed immediately.

Instead of stating such detrimental things, one could say something more positive "America is a great country with great people. They are constantly put down, instead of anybody ever saying anything good about them."

Try to be a little bit more positive. Instead of looking for the bad, try to find something good to say. Maybe then, things will change for the better instead of getting worse.

I mean after all, do you like it when somebody says something like that about you?

It is easier to instantly gratify a hunger that is in many ways connected to the need for stimulus for growth. Appeal to the infantile need instantly is a way to stop the crying baby within all of us. The U.S. has its modes as do all cultures. Humans are humans in any part of the world. We have the luck of being to indulge freely more in that and have dominated the world in a way so that that need can be satisfied.
