at a routine ultrasound they can reveal no cardiac activity. meaning (Fetal demise.)
it dosent mean that there is/was a problem with your baby but it could have been umbilical cord problems.
The loss of a baby at any stage is a fetal demise.
i know how hard it is to loose a baby as i went into labour with my second baby on the 14 august 06. she was born at 20 weeks and lived for a short time. she was 12.4onz 355grams.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Losing a baby beyond the first trimester can be very disturbing because most women have felt movement and/or seen the baby on ultrasound and are starting to show so the loss generally seems more "real" to them.

It could be a number of things. In late pregnancy (last trimester) cord accidents are a major factor (knotted around baby's neck) and also an incompetent cervix (which opens way before it's time for the baby to come and must be stitched up).

Earlier losses can be due to an unknown genetic anomoly or infection that has affected the mother/baby without her knowledge. There are many different reasons and doctors don't usually test for early losses until a woman has had two or more.

There was something wrong with the baby. It is possible it didn't attach to the wall correct or it pulled away. Sorry for your loss...I lost one at 4 months. I feel for you. I will never forget my baby.
