Well, I told my husband yesterday that I am going to get a new job and all he said was "UP TO YOU"

Could be one of four things, depending on the kind of person he is and what your relationship is like.

1) He has an opinion on the subject, but doesn't want to 'coerce' you in any way, or make it seem like he's forcing your hand one way or the other.

2) He believes completely in your judgement.

3) He is angry you're even considering leaving your job, and doesn't want to talk about it.

4) He doesn't care.

Personally, my wife would never let me get away with that brief an answer. ;)

Yes it's an acceptable answer because it is YOUR life and if YOU want to get a new job then it is your choice to do so. He doesn't feel he had the right to tell you whether you should or not since it is YOUR life.

I think so. It beats "No you're not."

We guys tend to say that a lot. If you ever get a chance, check out the TV show 'Coupling'. There's an episode called "The End of the Line". At the start, Susan and Steve are in different domestic situations, and every time she asks him a question, his answer is always, "It's up to you."

No way! It's a lazy answer. Was he occupied with something else when u asked or just doesn't want u to change jobs cuz he likes the one u have and it's reversed psychology? nah.... it's a lazy careless answer. Next time he asks for something important to him, say UP TO U and shrug ur shoulders.

Typical guy answer, lol. My thought is that that he doesn't want to give you a straight answer to avoid any contradicting ideas you might have. I mean what if he said, "no i don't think you should." It would probably start a very indepth conversation on the subject and he just wants you to make up your mind, rather than having him say what you should do.

"up to you" is not an acceptable answer, but who cares ur a women and can make your own decisions, so if he doesnt want to give you any important support, just do your own thing and really do whats best for you, if you put urself first you cant go wrong. Goodluck with whatever you decide to do, and ultimately remember that it is up to you.

He doesn't care if you get a job or not. I say it with little things but not something like getting a job.

well since it really is up to u. he don't want to tell you something then it turns around and back fires on him that's why he said that. if your not happy at the place your working at. then it's OK with him if you find a new job. he just wants you to be happy. and he's letting you make your on decision, and you should be happy with that.

up to u is a cop-out. He says this because he doesnt want u to take the job but he knows that u want to take the job. so to avoid making himself look like the bad guy he says its up to you

Saying Up To You is a sign of weakness. A person who speaks how they truly feel is confident and sure of themselves.
