its such a dumb holiday, if couples wanna celebrate thats what anniversarys are for! it sucks for couples, cause if the pressure of getting eachther something, and also for single people, because they dont wanna be alone on that day. i just think its a made up too commershilized holiday, what do you think?

I think you might be a bit bitter. I love Valentine's Day it's like a Christmas for couples and i try to outdo myself each year.
Valentine's Day goes back in history it was originally May 2nd but due to an error in a description Geofrrey Chaucer wrote about the Roman pagan holiday of Lupercalia people started celebrating it Feb. 14th. The oldest surviving Valentine card goes back to the 1400's. The day is mentioned in Hamlet. So it's no made up holiday people have been celebrating it for centuries.
Layladee i worked in a jewelry store and although V-Day is a busy time of year Christmas always tops it out dear.
Sweethearts day is in October i believe now THAT is a made up Holiday.

I personally think its just a lame hallmark holiday and the only thing that I like about it is the boxes of candy that are ridiculously cheap and good! My boyfriend and I are only celebrating it b/c we got a coupon/gift certificate worth 25% off from his mother and its only valid on valentines day. I may not like the day, but a girls gotta eat and anytime I can eat for less then why the hell not go out on this stupid holiday!

Lol I dont hate it as if I wish it werent a holiday but I celebrate it differently. Its a day that I celebrate being single and all the great things that do along with it and I treat myself to stuff on that day....because at the end of the day nobody will ever love me like I do! lol.

I DO! I DO! I believe the very reason why there is such a thing as Valentine's Day is for the chocolate/candy-producing companies to actually sell-out their products. Isn't it obvious? Other companies as well like the ones who sell stuffed toys.

I think Valentine's day has become just as commercialized as Christmas. Why should we use 1 out of 365 days to show someone how much we love them. The only people that benefit from Valentine's day are the Chocolate Candy and flowers people.
