Yeah, i've been noticing that when i go to Yankees games in other states i get treated like crap. They always say how New Yorkers are so arrogant and how they hate us. Last season i went to Chicago to watch the yanks play the White Sox, and whenever i got up to cheer or something they'd all get pissed and call me an asshole and a "stupid guido bastard". I'm sure they don't treat other fans like that. I do also realize that everyone hates the Yankees cuz they rock harder than any other sports team ever!! And i'm also sure that it's not only in baseball or sports that this goes on. I just think that New Yorkers are more down to earth than other rural parts of the country. It really pisses me off; #1 we're all Americans, and #2 we're all people... so wat the deal-a-yo?(i'm white & i listen to rock music)
Peace baby!

Well...it's not a New York thing. I live in the Appalachian mountains of West Virginia (only 4 red-lights in the whole county), and other states thinks we're inbreed, toothless, trailer trash, shoeless, under educated...and the list goes on. I lived in the Buffalo, NY area for 20+ years, and I absolutely loved it. The folks down here where I live now I feel shows more respect then they do in NY, cause I really don't know of too many times when the people in NY said "Yes Sir"..."Yes Ma'am", and also living down here, I have had more strangers talk to me like they knew me for years....then I ever had talk to me in the whole 20+ years living there. So...with that thought in mind...when someone from around this area goes to NY for a visit...they don't have that friendly greeting...and in turn they think people in NY are cold, arrogant, and unfriendly...etc. Then on the same token...if a New Yorker came here to visit...they would probably think that we we're backwards...20 years behind time, and they will see that just about everyone IS related to someone, but it isn't because their inbreeds...they just don't leave the area. Yea, many churches here where I live still have out-houses, but we have computers else I wouldn't be on here. NY'ers are get people and very helpful, but they do tend to stay to their self instead of reaching out and many of their families more away, but that doesn't make them bad. Your right...it also depends on what part of NY they visited.
The other reason why they might of gave you the cold shoulder, is because of going to a different state for the purpose of watching sports!!! Many people takes and view sports as a religion and takes it very seriously!!! Go to that same state just to visit and you'll probably get a different response. I'm sure that person in the arena when you were cheering really didn't know you were from NY! Where ever there's a stadium, there's usually a city close by...which means usually a more political area, which in turn means a more of a hostile area.
