Why do Women keep there Ex's Last Name After they get Divorced?

I am not married. I was curious because both of My Brothers Ex's kept their last name.

I didn't. I changed my last name back to my maiden name.
I can understand why some women do. It's a lot of work to change your name back. You have to change all your documents, like credit cards, drivers license, social security all your bank accounts and everything. They also might want to have the same last name as their children.

I kept my ex-husband's last name because of my son. He asked me to keep the same name he had until I got married again. I had o been married almost 20 years, and it was a VERY easy, short last name. My son was still in school and it was easier to have the same name. Both of my sisters have kept their ex-husband's last names as well.

SEE WHEN I WAS 14 MY MOTHER KEPT MY DADDY LAST NAME AFTER THEY GOT A DIVORCE BECAUSE SHE DID NOT WANT TO HAVE A DIFFERENT LAST NAME FROM ME AND MY SISTER. SO IF YOU HAVE ANY KIDS FOR YOUR EX KEEP HIS LAST NAME BUT IF YOU DONT THEN CHANGE YOUR LAST NAME AND THAT IS WHAT I WOULD DO.

Probably because of their children. I went back to my maiden name. In most states it doesn't cost anything to change it if you do it with your divorce. It wasn't that big of a deal to change everything else, a minor inconvenience to not have to constantly be asked if you're related to your ex-husband's family!

To have the same name as their children. I also believe that one has to pay in order to have their name changed back to their maiden name.

Search me...I will never want to do that as it probably remind me of the past. To get over and move on I will even throw away everything that he gave.

It's just easier, because if all the paperwork, IRS, paychecks, bank accounts, not to mention children and school.

Maybe it's just easier than having to change everything around again.
Also if they have children it keeps them connected.
