Work Study Program is a job that you can take on at the school while attending the school. I did a work study as a resource librarian for a while and then as a tutor. My sister does a work study as a teacher's assistant, she grade papers and creates presentations for the instructor. I know people who have worked as student ambassadors, basically it is doing what ever the school has a need for and getting paid.

P.S. I think your HOTT!!!

Sometimes you can use work study money off campus, but mostly it means a job on campus. The pay is bad, but its pocket money that you don't have to take out a loan to get and its more likely than an off campus job to be easy to schedule around your classes. There are usually many different jobs. Does the financial aid page say anything about student jobs or is there a link on the university's main employment page? Look for a job where you will be allowed to study when things are slow. The library and the academic departments are usually good about that. Parking or anything where you sell tickets generally won't let you study. Once you get to your junior or senior year, see if you can find something that pertains to whatever you want to end up doing. I had work study in grad school and was able to get a job in my field and graduate with experience. Even if you decide to go to grad school, a job that pertains to your field would look good on applications. Good luck!

I think work study is something which will allow you to work in campus, perhaps a study abroad office or student services. I'm sure there's more but I know for sure that if you want to work at these places at your university than you would have to be on work study.

Plus, you get more benefits. Look into your university grants as well. See if you could get some money off of that.

Hope this helps !!

Work study is a job the school lines up for you. Since they say you're eligible, talk to the financial aid dept about getting it set up. You'll work for someone or something that's related to the school.

My wife's work study was to be an assistant to a professor. All set up by the school. Just meant she didn't have to out looking for a job.

So you filled out the FAFSA, right? That tells you whether you're eligible for financial aid, including work-study. The government is paying you to work at school. There are jobs open around campus, and you go apply, and then you get paid like minimum wage. Usually, they work around your schedule. Working on campus is really convenient, in my opinion.
