That's the first book I read that made me cry. It's one of the only modern classics I don't own. I want to re-read it before I see the movie, and I'm going to watch the 1985 version too (they have it on Blockbuster.com). They better leave the ending, since that was what made the book so great. The only things I remember about it are the running at the begining, and the sorrow at the end. I read it nine years ago, but it still touches me.

It was a great book. The book deserved that award it got. True. Why did Leslie die? I mean she's like one of the main characters. Yes, that movie is different!!!!!!!!!!! I saw in Yahoo Movies that they're making a movie of it and I was pissed. They turned it all futuristic. Well, they made the setting in these time. They should have stick with the same setting like in the book. Leslie character, doesn't even look like Leslie. Plus I don't remember that they had those arm things in their hands and the giants. If they sticked with the book setting, some people will find it boring and not watch it. But I would watch it since I've read the book. People who'll watch the movie, I bet you, didn't even read the book, except some. The movie seems like the movie that kids watch, which lots will, but I don't think that they'll show Leslie's death, because the movie will be exciting and then the girl dies. But I'm not sure, I haven't watch it yet and I don't think I will.

Bridge to Terabithia is a very, very well-written book, and a very personal one for the author. She wrote it for herself and her son after his friend Lisa was struck by lightning and died.
That said, I have a very deep dislike of reading this book. I have a lot of respect for it, but I have never liked it and doubt I ever really will. Personal reasons, I suppose. I know a lot of people that adore it.
The movie trailers have made me very angry so far. Not because they updated the time period, but because it looks like a fun fantasy world movie, and then they're going to kill the little girl. And there's no way around it. I read the movie book in B&N kids section the other day, and it talks about the tragedy that takes place in the movie and even has pictures of Lisa (the girl Leslie's character is based on). I just have a problem with it being advertised as a "save the world" fantasy when the book is about friendship and being yourself and coping with tragedy.

I totally loved this book and is one of the books that made me cry. I did shed soem tears while reading the end, and i think that the movie will be a little less dramatic, but if not i guess i might cry. im very excited for the movie!!!!!!!
Seriously, dont be so negative Kate person. I think that they aren't typically "killing" Leslie in the movie, they're just going along with the plot.

I liked the book, and yes I cried to, but I think they will keep the ending in there, just because, thats a very big thing in the book, like if that didn't happen, then there would be no problems in the movie, like they make up this magical world, the end. ya know, they have to ahve some kind of conflict or sadness, so I definitely think they will keep it in there!

I remember reading this book for school. It seams the movie will be way different from the book so I am going to wait until it comes out on DVD or on TV since its not at all like what I remember.

It looks like they totally changed the plot. I read the book a long time ago (two times!) and really loved it. I don't remember ANY of the stuff being "real" in Terabithia like they are showing on the preview with monsters and weird creatures. Wasn't it imaginary and not really the crux of the plot? I cried my eyes out, both times.

It's sad and it doesn't sugar-coat death. It's a very upfront children's book. It's well-written though I think the characterizations could have been a little better.
